Washington v. Jefferson: A Debate on the Separation of Church and State
Tara Ross & Jim Harrington
Over 80 students and faculty attended “Washington v. Jefferson: A Debate on the Separation of Church and State.” Tara Ross, UT Law alum and co-author of Under God: George Washington and the Question of Church and State, presented Washington’s often overlooked views on religion in the public sphere. Jim Harrington, adjunct professor at The University of Texas School of Law and founder of the Texas Civil Rights Project, responded by defending Jefferson’s analogy of a wall of separation between church and state.

Texas Federalist Society Presents - John Yoo. “Crisis and Command: The History of Presidential War Power”
John Yoo
Several hundred students, faculty and members of the general public, legal community and media filled the Charles Francis Auditorium to capacity for a lecture by Berkeley law professor and former Justice Department official John Yoo. “Crisis and Command: The History of Presidential War Power” provided a thoughtful narrative and evaluation of the development of executive war powers, and was followed by an engaging Q&A and book-signing.

I don't need no stinkin' rights!?! Heard a lot about rights, right? So, what are they, where do they come from, and how should judges respond to claims of their violation?
Join Texas Federalist Society to hear Dr. Roger Pilon and Prof. Lino Graglia debate this foundational issue regarding the Constitution's meaning and the role of courts. The event will take place at noon on Friday, October 3. Lunch will be served.

Prof. Stras, former Supreme Court clerk and co-director of University of Minnesota School of Law's Institute for Law & Politics, previews the significant cases of the Supreme Court's upcoming term, which will begin on October 6. Prof. Stras will also offer his analysis of the potential effect a new Administration will have on the Court. Happy hour to follow.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Ho clerked on the Supreme Court, Jim with Justice Thomas and Allyson with Justice O'Connor. Professor Mitch Berman will also contribute to this exciting event.
